JAPANESE WOODEN KOKESHI DOLL WITH CAMELLIA KIMONO BY KAZUO TAKAMIZAWA
This is an adorable hand-made and hand-painted Kokeshi doll.
She measures 9.25" tall and 8.5" in circumference around her head.
Doll is from the 1970's, she was designed by a most respected and highly honored kokeshi doll artist - Kazuo Takamizawa - who has won numerous top awards in Japan for his beautiful kokeshi creations, including one for this particular doll.
The kokeshi is wearing a yellow kimono, decorated with several camellia flowers, that were first hand carved into the wood, and then painted. Many of the details on this kokeshi doll were burned into the wood for added interest.
Her soft, gentle facial features are just adorable, framed by her traditional hair style, and topped with a large hair bun.
The artist's red stamp/chop is missing.
This kokeshi doll is in wonderful vintage condition.
Please note the size of the doll as the pictures may make it look larger than it actually is.
Great addition to your collection of Kokeshi dolls or to display alone!
